As an officer in the Navy I saw firsthand the need to have well educated soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines in order to run our high tech, advanced military.

Sailors I worked with came right out of high school and, with one year of technical training, master all the systems on the $50 million aircraft that Navy pilots like I flew.

If our service members aren’t equipped with a strong educational foundation, and our workforce isn’t prepared with the skills today’s economy demands, both our economy and our national security will suffer.

Meanwhile, radical free staters have created a voucher program that is taking money away from our public schools and giving them to for private and religious schools.

The end product of the voucher program is the state downshifting the responsibility of properly funding our schools onto the towns. Forcing towns to either chose to reduce school programs or raise local property taxes to make up the difference.
