At the Naval Academy, Matt distinguished himself as a three-year letterman on the varsity football team, participating in two bowl games and beating Army three out of four seasons.<h2>Family Life</h2><h4>Matt is married to Debbie Myers, who grew up in Manchester.</h4>Together, they have three children and five grandchildren, weaving a tight-knit family deeply rooted in New Hampshire. While&nbsp;in the navy Matt and Debbie were stationed&nbsp;in Pensacola FL, Lemoore CA, and Jacksonville FL, then they returned to New Hampshire, first settling in Manchester before building a house on his family’s property in Bedford in 1993.

Matt was assigned to Attack Squadron 86, part of Carrier Air Wing 8, and assigned to the USS Nimitz.Matt did three deployments on board Nimitz, accumulating over 350 carrier landings. He was privileged to fly all over the world including Europe, Asia, Canada, and the Caribbean.

<h2>Community Engagement</h2>Matt did volunteer work coaching and umpiring in the Bedford youth sports leagues. He was the first coach of the Manchester West High School girls lacrosse club. This was a full-time volunteer coaching position and it became the impetus for the sport being picked up at the varsity level after two seasons.Additionally, after Matt retired from commercial flying during the Covid pandemic, he became a volunteer driver for Hillsborough County Meals on Wheels program, and a regular donor of blood platelets at the Manchester Red Cross.

Addressing climate change isn’t just about protecting our environment, it's also about lowering energy costs and building a more reliable energy system.By investing in energy efficiency, expanding renewable energy like solar, and modernizing our grid, New Hampshire can reduce costs for families while strengthening our economy. <h3>Smart energy policies can help stabilize prices, create local jobs, and ensure Granite Staters have access to affordable, reliable power for years to come.</h3>

Clean Energy and Climate Change

<h4>Both my wife and I were lifelong union members.&nbsp;</h4>Without a doubt, working in a union improves an employee’s quality of life with both improved pay and benefits.This does not just benefit the union worker. It benefits the NH economy. A well paid worker is able to do the things that make an economy thrive. They buy cars, they take vacations, go to sporting events, concerts, restaurants, and plays. They contribute to charities.In essence, the fact that they make a decent living goes a long way to allowing so many other businesses to thrive.I will work to ensure Right to Work laws do not pass in the New Hampshire Legislature.I will work hard in Concord to ensure that all employees have the ability to form a union and collectively bargain with their employer for the conditions of their employment.

<h4>For more than a decade, Republicans have controlled the levers of power in Concord, and during that time the cost of living has continued to climb. </h4>Housing is harder to find and more expensive, property taxes keep rising, and too many families are stretched thin trying to cover basic necessities. It’s time to focus on real solutions that address the root causes of these challenges: increasing the supply of affordable housing, lowering energy costs, expanding access to affordable child care, and ensuring our tax system doesn’t keep shifting more of the burden onto working families. <h3>With smarter priorities and a renewed focus on affordability, we can make New Hampshire a place where people can build a life, raise a family, and get ahead.</h3>

New Hampshire families are working harder than ever, but the cost of living keeps rising. Too many Granite Staters feel like they’re falling behind no matter how hard they work. We need leaders focused on practical solutions that bring costs down and help families get ahead.

Cost of Living

<h4>As an officer in the Navy I saw firsthand the need to have well educated soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines in order to run our high tech, advanced military.</h4>Sailors I worked with came right out of high school and, with one year of technical training, master all the systems on the $50 million aircraft that Navy pilots like I flew.If our service members aren’t equipped with a strong educational foundation, and our workforce isn’t prepared with the skills today’s economy demands, both our economy and our national security will suffer.Meanwhile, radical free staters have created a voucher program that is taking money away from our public schools and giving them to for private and religious schools.The end product of the voucher program is the state downshifting the responsibility of properly funding our schools onto the towns. Forcing towns to either chose to reduce school programs or raise local property taxes to make up the difference.

If our service members aren’t equipped with a strong educational foundation, and our workforce isn’t prepared with the skills today’s economy demands, both our national security and our economy will suffer.

Trust Matt to fight for workers, families, schools and essential freedoms
